• Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 - Rise

Went to see Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Fela Kuti, performing in London last friday and what a concert it was. You could not stay static for one second. Seun Kuti is a charismatic performer who mixes humour to ridicule the system we live in but also seriousness in order to raise issues in his continent. Following the steps of his dad in terms of Afro Beat, he manages to stir away from this difficult legacy by modernising his Afro Beat but also finding his own voice.
